Imagine that you and your partner charter a boat for a two week cruise of the Caribbean.  Shortly after you begin your journey, a storm blows  you off course to a deserted island.  You find yourselves shipwrecked with limited resources to help you and your partner survive.  One thing you do find in the wreckage is a bag labeled Simple Machines that was cleverly packed by your teacher before your journey.  A note inside says:  

Dear Adventurers,                                                                                                              

 You may find these tools useful on your journey.  Please keep a record of how these tools were helpful to you.  Upon your return, I would like for you to report your findings to the class.  Have a great time!
